What a Garage Floor Coating Costs in Chula Vista, by System and Garage Size

Epoxy Floors Bay Chula Vista works out what a garage floor coating costs in Chula Vista: the rate for each system, the extra for the state of the slab and the flat options, laid out as arithmetic so that a bid can be checked line by line.

One formula for every bid

Total = (system rate + slab extras) × square feet, plus flat options. The calculator on the home page uses this arithmetic, and so do the worked examples. All figures are market estimates, not quotes.

System Installed, per sq ft
Solid-color epoxy $3–$6
Flake (chip) epoxy $5–$8
Polyaspartic flake $7–$12
Metallic epoxy $8–$12

Where the rates come from

No Chula Vista price list exists, so the bands sit inside published ones. A home-services page for Chula Vista gives $5–$8 per square foot including materials, and about $1,300–$2,100 for a garage near 250 square feet. A San Diego installer's page gives $3–$7 for broadcast flake and $7–$12 for polyaspartic. California guides give solid color at $3–$6 or less, metallic at $8–$12, and polyaspartic or polyurea from $6 up to $10 and beyond. Southern California pages run higher for full polyaspartic builds, so the polyaspartic band here stretches to $12.

Garage size, system by system

Garage Area used Flake epoxy Polyaspartic flake
1-car 240 sq ft $1,200–$1,920 $1,680–$2,880
2-car 440 sq ft $2,200–$3,520 $3,080–$5,280
3-car 700 sq ft $3,500–$5,600 $4,900–$8,400
4-car 900 sq ft $4,500–$7,200 $6,300–$10,800
5-car or larger 1,150 sq ft $5,750–$9,200 $8,050–$13,800

One car is 12 by 20 feet in a common published average, and three cars about 704 square feet. San Diego two-car garages run 400 to 480 square feet, so 440 is the middle. The four- and five-car areas are derived from bay width and depth, then rounded down, not published averages.

What the slab adds per square foot

Slab condition Added per sq ft On 440 sq ft
Sound slab $0 $0
Minor cracks, pitting, small spalls $1–$2 $440–$880
Old coating or paint to remove $2–$4 $880–$1,760
Heavy oil, or a slab that tests damp $2–$4 $880–$1,760

Slab extras stack. A 440 square foot flake floor with cracks and an old coating is ($5 + $1 + $2) to ($8 + $2 + $4), so $8–$14 per square foot, or $3,520–$6,160.

Flat options, one line each

Option Flat amount
Coat the stem wall at the garage door $150–$400
Coat the entry steps or landing $100–$300
Extra crack or joint repair, many cracks $150–$450
Custom flake blend $100–$300
Move the contents out and back $150–$400

All five on the cracked, old-coating floor above add $650–$1,850 and bring the total to $4,170–$8,010. Crack repair is commonly priced at $50–$200 per area, which is why the extra-cracks line is about three areas.

Why west-side and east-side bids drift apart

Older garages west of Hilltop Drive are more likely to carry the damp-slab or old-paint lines, because the slab is older and may have been painted more than once. Newer east-side garages are more likely to need the move-contents line, since they tend to be filled to the door. Neither is a rule; the slab and a moisture test decide. A bid that folds every item into one number cannot be set beside one that lists them.
